PARTY OF FIVE.
R to L: Mark, a graphic artist from Texas. DEBBIE, the TravelDiva from Nevada. ELAYNE, a crafty lady from Arizona. RENEE, another crafty lady from Texas. Ken, the lettering guy from Texas.
Class #52 had the typical variety of personalities, talents, abilities, patience, and appetites. We had a great time and there are now 5 more individuals who will make a lot of people happy as they begin practicing on everything but the kitchen sink at home and personalizing whatever they can to promote their new and wonderful skill. Mark is indicating he feels it will take him about two years until he gets it.
Well, I’ll now take my tongue out of my cheek and say…”That couldn’t be farther from the truth!” Mark is an experienced pointed pen calligrapher, with an already-familiar head and hand for the letters we use with the high-speed drill. He was amazing and will probably be giving up his day job one of these days when the tail starts wagging the dog. That often happens when those around hand-engravers of calligraphy keep them incessantly busy. The engravers build up a quick following of customers who cannot resist the personalization on an endless list of gifts that become so much more special with engraving.
It WAS a party made up of four students and me….a lot of hard work and subsequent fun seeing the magic coming as the drill tracked beautifully across glass, metal, and ceramics.

Come for the late August session and join our ranks. You’ll love the visit and all you’ll learn and do.

Hi Ken!
I miss my classmates and you! And you’re right. It WAS a party, with lots of laughter and the magic of new friendships. I learned a whole lot and am diligently practicing. My goal is to attend a wine function at the end of August and be able to confidently hand out my cards. Thank you for your generous teaching spirit and for the supportive way that you run your professional seminars. I heartily encourage anyone who is thinking about this to jump right in and get started.
