AMERICAN

In 1972, my brother, Michael, of Arlington, Texas, was awarded a Freedom Foundation George Washington Medal for his writing WHAT IS AN AMERICAN?  It is such a powerful message that I calligraphed the composition and made prints of his essay that year.  My wife, Gail, drew the eagle and flag shown in the background when it was updated in 1991.

If you’re a part of any organized group or event on America’s birthday, or any other time, you might wish to read the message to the group as another reminder of just how fortunate we are to live in the land of the free and home of the brave.
