YES!
This gorgeous young girl stood at my table one day when I was engraving Estee’ Lauder compacts at Nordstrom in Dallas. I was so taken by her face-painting that I put my drill down and asked her if I could take a photo of her face and she said, “Yes.” I took the picture and it is one of my favorites, shot at my compact events I’ve done for Estee’ Lauder all over the U.S. and Canada.
When I wrote the 3-part blog a couple of weeks ago, then told the story to my friend, Suzie Humphreys, you may remember her response was,
“WHAT’S THE POINT OF THE STORY??”
(I thought she had slept through my story!)
My answer was that it was a MIRACLE that Estee’ Lauder gave me more compacts than I would have ever dreamed…and their timing was perfect.
Suzie said, “No! What’s the point of the story?”
After going back and forth several minutes I said to her,
“Well….what IS the point of the story?”
Suzie said it was ONE word and the word was YES! She pointed out that all along the series of events, my answer to the questions from the Lauder people was always, “YES!” She was right.
When the girl at the Lauder counter came over to the OSCAR de la RENTA counter where I was engraving bottles, and asked if I’d go see the regional Lauder director. My answer was, “YES!”
When the account executive, at the director’s meeting, asked me to go to Tulsa for a SAKS FIFTH AVENUE event, I said, “Yes!” Remember that was where I had the shock of my life, seeing the $6000. in pre-sold merchandise, all to be done in one day.
When I got the call to come to NY for TWO WEEKS….and I had no idea what to expect, or how I could leave my business in Texas for 14 days, I said, ‘YES!”
When I was asked by Lauder corporate if I would create an engraving class to teach others my skill, I said, “YES!”
When I wrote to Estee Lauder and asked for some compact scrap parts for my students in the brand new engraving seminars, there was NO verbal or written answer. But…their silent answer was YES, proven by the boxes and boxes and boxes of Estee Lauder compacts they sent for my classes.
Fourteen of you submitted a comment what YOU thought was the ‘point of the story.’ Nobody got it. I buried the clue in a couple of places in the 3-part blog. Had some interesting answers and remarks but nobody gave me the correct answer.
However…EACH of you, who took the time and interest to comment, will get an engraved compact. The offer is over now so only those who submitted a comment up to the date of this blog will get a compact as my Thank You!
Email a screen shot of your comment at the end of the post where I asked for answers. I need to match it with what I have here. Include your name and postal mailing address to ken@kenbrown.com
You have until August 8 to see this and send your email. After that, you missed your chance. Compacts in the mail by August 15.
“YES!” is a powerful word. Be bold. Step out of your comfort zone. Use it wisely.
Got it? The answer is “YES!”
