Several years ago Gail discovered the best manicurist this side of Hanoi and her shop is right here in McKinney. Her calendar is booked solid with standing appointments. Slim chance of getting to sit in front of Crystal if you’re not a regular.
Being the shameless promoter I am, and knowing the many eyes seeing her station every day, I thought it would be a good investment to get a vase, fill it with Hershey’s kisses, engrave a little blurb around the top, and make it a Christmas gift. So I went to Tuesday Morning and found the beautiful vase….only about 6″ tall….for $29. The Kisses were $9. The engraving was about 10 minutes. The Silver Leaf Rub ‘n Buff was about 4 minutes. Did all that, put it in a big gift bag with the vase nestled in half an acre of red tissue paper, and Gail took it a couple of days before Christmas for her nail work.
Crystal loved it. It sat there all during Gail’s appointment with many in the salon lifting a Kiss and commenting. That afternoon it went home and never saw the nail salon again. No sweat. Things like this usually have legs that often bring happy returns.
BOTTOM LINE: Promote your work with a gift to people who will show it and sing your praises and talents. Doesn’t have to be forty bucks…could be simpler and cheaper and have the same effect.
I used a #6 round carbide on the large letters and a #3 round on the smaller letters.
Start the idea for yourself with your own hair/nail salon or barber. I did one for my barber about 4 years ago with a Christmas message on the sides of a tall blue wine bottle. It stayed at the cash register way into January. Was it worth it? Oh yes.
