It’s an October ritual. The area country club brings a dozen large swords to the Studio. I engrave the basic information on each, then the club pro comes and gets them. A month later, on the last day of the Member/Guest tournament, I go the club to sit at my table between the bar and the glorious food a couple of hundred husbands and wives come to drink and eat. When I arrive, the golf pro brings me a list of the winners and I do a sword for each of the 12. As I engrave them, showers of sparks light up the table as the brand new #4 round carbide bur glides through the silky stainless steel blades.
I make friends right away with the bartender….this time a sweet young lady who immediately got a SmileStone with her name, Brittany, on it. That’s my magic ticked to all the Champagne I want during my stay at the club.
At the end, I get a credit card number for the 6 hours pre-engraving done at my Studio and the 2 hours at the club. Everyone is happy and they’ve already reserved the dates for me next year.
Oh, the joys of engraving things people love and get free Champagne in the process!
